Hello. I’m Dr. Samantha Brustad and I strive to help children, adolescents and their families reach their full potential. While every family has positive qualities, unique to you, life stressors and changes may cause disorganization, and feelings of stress, hopelessness, and hostility between family members. Whether the cause of the distress center around a recent change in family structure, past traumas, or developmental/behavioral/emotional concerns for your child, I will help you to reconnect with the unique strengths that help your family to thrive.
Therapy reestablishes hope by clarifying structure and roles of family members, improving communication, and helping members reconnect. In some cases, families merely need to reestablish balance to gain strength and cohesion. Other times, a family benefits from improving their understanding of a child’s learning and emotional needs through psychological testing, in order to provide the most supportive and enriching environment possible.
I have a passion for working with teens and young adults, with specialties in identity development, trauma, oppositional, and disordered eating behaviors. In individual therapy sessions, adolescents are provided with a safe space to explore and identify their personal strengths and goals, while developing stronger coping and social skills. Family therapy sessions help parents to support teens, and learn skills to promote healthy individuation.
Outside of the office you can find me enjoying the water at the beach or by the pool, sometimes with my dog, Christopher! I also enjoy teaching my nieces about music and fashion while spending time with my two older sisters.
